Hi James, first off thank you. 16-bit sports games for life! The best ones have endless replayability. Apologies for responding so late on 3/3/24 lol. Your comment was made 3 days after my son was born… so I was plenty busy. Then my comments grew to 14,000+ and it was tough wading through the crap from the real comments like yours. So glad my list gave you some good reading material. It was a blast to make and probably the most popular article I’ve ever written. Cheers!

Aw thank you so much for those kind words! Still one of my all time favorite things I’ve created on the internet. I had a blast making this list and I’m glad people to this day are still getting something out of it! Which ones would you say you enjoyed the most?

This is a great list – I made it a point to get as many I could reasonably import and I have not been disappointed once. Anyone who likes SNES needs to sample some of these games.

hi, just popped by to say that this is a list i’ve been searching for since the beginning of my SNES obsession (the _definite_ platform for 2D games ever, but you probably know that been a computer guy all my life and found the console world a few years ago…). very few Western lists/rankings try to take on the Japanese exclusives, even fewer tackle anything more than JRPGs.
being a sports games fan, i say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart <3

Hi! My friend is looking for a game. It kinda looks like a Miracle girls. It kinda resembles Rayman, the mainplayer has robot friends that has coconutheads. Game is easygoing and the colors are friendly, and nice, kinda like Super mario world Yoshis Story. It was a 2D platformer and the camera was from the side. I think the maincaracter was femalerobot(?) whit a blonde hair. I think she had hands like Rayman (like not connected) she could crapple blocks to swing around.

Metal max is my favourite I own the newest entry (xeno) after playing the aeon genesis fanslation many moons ago. Der langrisser is second on my snes fanslated game list (and again, I’ve preordered the English re-release for march 2020). Even though it’s not SNES I often jump onto the GBA to play the likes of mother 3 and a few RPGS. I just wanted to pop on here and say thank you, this was a surprisingly helpful list! I thought I’d played all the good Jap exclusive games.

Hey Kamil, thanks for visiting and commenting. I enjoy the two Pocky & Rocky games too (my girlfriend and I have been playing the first one recently… it’s a lot harder than it appears! I wish it had a lock/strafe button). However, at the beginning of this article I stated that the criteria includes games which never saw a North American release. So that’s why the two P&R games didn’t make the list. Cheers.

This is a great list, but in my opinion two Pocky & Rocky (Kiki Kaikai) games should be in it. I think they are little known, but are really fantastic for a SNES.
