Congratulations on getting married and the upcoming baby! Glad to hear about that!

I sent you an email a while back, but maybe you don’t have that address any more. I dunno. Anyway, nothing wrong with book reading! A review of Memoirs would be great. Of course, I have a couple other books out as well which might be ripe for review.

Admittedly, my forum attendance has been rather sparse lately. Last time I really posted anywhere was back on Halloween, when I announced the reopening of West Mansion!

OMG (OPCFG! LOL)! Rob! Yo, dude, what’s up!? My goodness, how long has it been? What a happy surprise seeing your comment! Made my night! Whoa, the OPCFG is back in WordPress form, I see. I’ll have to definitely check that out. As for what’s going on and where I’ve been, first off, I don’t check or post on gaming boards any longer. I never quit. One day I just lost interest and have yet to come back. I still enjoy games, but my passion shifted to my childhood love of reading. I got back into books in 2019 in a massive way, and similar to my SNES resurrection back in 2006, I started buying all my favorite childhood books and all the ones I never read but always wanted to. Hobby-wise, books > games for me at this stage of my life. Although I still love the SNES and I’ll play it even to this day, but I’d be lying if I said the passion for gaming burns as strong as it did from 2001-2018 (my Saturn and SNES run). As you can see, most of my latest work centers around books of one sort or another. I did have a blast creating the SNES-arcade article, though. It’s my hope to occasionally post something gaming-related, but truth be told my passion is mostly for reading these days. Hell, I should review Memoirs of a Virtual Caveman one day, eh? Haha.

In other news, I got married during the pandemic! My wife and I are expecting a June baby. Very exciting. This will be our first child. Fingers crossed for everything to go well.

How have you been? Maybe I’ll poke my head back in the gaming forums. I know I’ve been away for like 2 years now. Kinda like church, one day I stopped going and one Sunday turned into infinite Sundays, ha! Anyway, I hope you’re in a good place and it’s always a pleasure to hear from you. Take care, brother! PS- OMG how did I forget Strider! That definitely should be on the list

Good list! You named several games I would have (metaphorically) killed for to have on the SNES. I also think that Capcom might have been able to deliver a truer-to-the-arcade Strider on the SNES, but at least we got it for the Genesis.

Sam Hicks! Wow, good to hear from you again! Talk about a blast from the past! Yep, still doing my thing even after all these years. This coming January (2022) RVGFanatic turns 15! Crazy. As you can see, I’ve gotten into reading and writing about books since 2019, but I still aim to write about SNES and random video games even if it has been a while. You dropped by just in time to read my first SNES-related piece in some time. Pandemic life has been pretty good to me. My wife is pregnant! Hoping that it all goes well and we have a healthy baby in late May/early June. Fingers crossed. Excited for this next chapter in our lives. Take care, bro. Thank you Dale! I had no idea Vendetta was ported to the Switch. I haven’t been keeping up with the Switch much (although I do plan to pick up Metroid Dread tomorrow when it launches in the US). I’ll have to check out Vendetta. Legit have not played it in 30 years. Hopefully it holds up well. And hopefully you enjoy it if you bought it.

Such was the fate for a handful of arcade games back in the ’90s. For whatever reason, it was never meant to be. Glad we have access to many of these titles today, but man, it would have been so much more fun having them when we were kids/teens.

I was disappointed that Midnight Wanderers was never ported to the 16-bit systems. It seemed like a perfect fit for both the SNES and Genesis. I loved the arcade game, and I kept checking the magazines for news of a home port, but it was no good.

Very nice list Steve! I have to admit, I am not too familiar with most of the back 10 titles, but I do echo a lot of your sentiments of your top 10, especially for WWF Wrestlefest, X-Men, and Simpsons. I saw Vendetta as one of the games that got a Switch port earlier this year, and have been wanting to try that one out. Hearing your approval for it here, will lead to me purchasing this sooner than later!
