Yeah, I'm impressed by all the footage his dad captured of him and gaming back in the '80s and '90s! My old man was badass in his own right -- always taking me out every weekend to rent the latest 8 and 16-bit games :) But yeah, all that legit old school footage really makes iretrogamer's work stand out even more than your typical retro gaming YouTube channel. It totally transports you back to your own childhood. He just put out a video talking about how he's taking a hiatus because he's been doing this for 5 straight years (and how he wants to strengthen his family life). I totally get and support his decision. It made me think also... January 2019 will mark 12 years (!) of me running and updating RVGFanatic (in one capacity or another) pretty much straight through. That insane level of longevity and consistency fills me with pride as well as a hint of shame, LOL. JK. Sort of :P

But I totally respect Tyler's decision and wish him the best during his hiatus.

Thankee for the recommendations! That Ninja Warriors looks pretty promising! I added that Iretrogamer SoR video to my youtubue watch later list. I have seen a couple of his videos before and am jealous of his dad saving all that vintage footage capturing his childhood gaming memories on a wide variety of systems.

Thanks Dale! Lots of good Streets of Rage nostalgia going around the internet in the past week and a half since the news dropped of a Streets of Rage 4. I encourage you to Google IRetroGamer. He recently put out a YouTube video honoring Streets of Rage and his memories playing it with his dad growing up. Streets of Rage is just one of those magical classic games that we'll always cherish. It takes you back to a different time in your life. The memories shall live on forever :)

PS: Speaking of beat 'em up revivals, the recently revealed Ninja Warriors: Once Again looks even better than SoR 4 ;)

Nice review! It brought back so many memories for me! Streets of Rage was first Genesis game I ever played. I recall being dazzled by the graphics and being able to call up the police for backup. I used that quite a bit. Never got to the ending though and I chuckled with your caption of the gang giving the handshake to the cop! I recently tried replaying the first game when the trilogy was a 360 Games for Gold a few months ago and on default credits got up to the pair of ninja ladies boss before I ran out of lives! Good times!
