Thank you for your replies on this one and the Mike Tysons Punch- Out posts, no worries on the time, I'm just happy you replied. I've since gone on to add comments on other posts like NBA Jam WWF Memories and a few others. Your sincerity is honestly what gave me the courage to post as I usually never comment on anything online, as I'm sure I may have said before, I'm glad you're site exists, there's so many other memories of yours that I'm looking forward to commenting on.

It's February 16 and I just read your comment from January 29, ha. Sorry it took me so long. But dude! That's awesome, thanks for the kind words and sharing your lovely memories of Resident Evil. Yeah, I love October-December as well... such an atmospheric time to consume some scary movies, games and books! I was blown away by RE the first time I played it back in 1996 at my friend's house. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. To answer your questions, yes I was aware of the uncut beginning. However, I haven't played the GameCube version. The GameCube era escaped me -- I think I've played less than one hour of GameCube in my entire life lol. Anywho, thanks again for dropping by! Glad you enjoy the site. I wrote so many of these reviews and articles EONS ago... it's always nice to hear that they are still being discovered/read and enjoyed!

THANK YOU, for this awesome piece about Resident Evil! There's days where it's cloudy, raining and thundering outside and that's my favorite time to fire this game up, as well as in October thru December (I play scary games during Christmas time as well). I first played Resident Evil on the Playstation around 98, my friend lent me his Playstation system and his friends copy of Resident Evil. There was no memory card but I didn't care at that moment, I just wanted to try it after seeing the demo that plays at the beginning with Chris in the Hallway. I went across the street to my parents place where I lived at the time, and I remember playing it from around 9 or 10 pm to 5 in the morning. I got scared when the zombie laying down in that 1st hallway attacked me, jumped in my seat and yelled an expletive when the dog jumped thru the window and the same with the zombie/closet door opening and a bunch of others. There's SO much iconic stuff in that game, from the scary FMV beginning, to the unintentionally funny lines (Jill sandwich) to the music, but the overall feeling of not knowing what was next and the uneasy feeling I had in my gut and spooky atmosphere is something I'll never forget. The only reason I quit playing that morning at 5 and I clearly remember this, was I had 3 mixed herbs, was low on health but wanted to keep pushing as Chris. I got to the scene with Neptune, the Shark and he jumped up and bit my head off. I was so pissed off I remember thinking out loud, "Why the hell didn't I use 1 of my herbs?!" I turned it off and was thinking I was probably not gonna play the game again for a long time. Well later that day I fired it up again but didn't take it too seriously until I got a memory card a few days later from my gf, then it was on like Donkey Kong. I recently started playing the Saturn version a few days ago and one of the things I noticed right off the bat was in the Dining Room Hall with the clock, in the Playstation version I remember there's a painting of 2 men with swords and the inscription says something along the lines of 1 of the swords is piercing 1 thru the head while the other's piercing the other guys heart. It's giving you a clue about the clock, but in the Saturn version there's a painting of a woman. It makes me wonder what other changes there are. Also I wanted to ask, and no rush in replying ( it's better late than never) but were you aware of the original uncut beginning of the game with all the gore and severed hand? And have you ever played the GameCube remake which has been re-released on different systems? It's worth looking into, they add a whole new section to the Mansion at the top of the first set of stairs to mention at least one thing, and they even added the option to use the original tank controls of the original trilogy. It's basically a whole new game and the graphics look amazing even by today's standards. Having said that, the original is still my favorite, I also appreciate those 32 bit graphics even though they don't seem to get much love online but to each their own. Again, THANK you for this, I love your site, and am glad I found it a while back.
