Totally agree. I stopped watching WWE 2 yrs ago by the awful constant zoom in n out. What happened to the stellar camera work from late 80s through 90s?! It was second to none. Im having the best time playing this on my Wii U. I prefer mini screen. I had stopped playing back in 2014 cuz I didnt realize I could pick the fighters. So I happened to try round robin mode then I found out! Pick 3 of my rasslers n 3 CU. Funnest game ever with the near falls. You are right about 2.5 n 2.9 n the crowd stomp in unison. I used to just use Astroid now 1st time using the other rasslers. I popped huge when Ape did the mega powerslam. Bro how do I tag in championship tag mode? Thanks again bro, having ultimate blast since I was the biggest All Japan mark. Love the atmosphere since they used to be on Network TV over there.

Hey Richard, thanks for leaving that nice comment. It never fails to bring a huge smile to my heart whenever I see people randomly commenting on old reviews I’ve written of games that are now 25-30 years old! Time flies, makes you feel a little old if you stop to think about it for a second, ha! Ah, good ol’ NCW. Such good memories of this one. The 12 wrestlers all had a bit of personality to them. Yep, you know it — Conan’s moonsault was amazing. Definitely check out Zen Nippon… technically they are better but I still think NCW had a more fun roster. With all due respect to the Giant Baba and Stan Hansen! After all, it’s hard to top “Big Ape” and “M. Roach” with those stylish short orange tights, lol. On a final note, ’80s and ’90s wrestling is where it’s at. The current day product has some great stars (such as Sasha, Bayley and so forth) but man the booking is so bad for WWE and the camera shakes and cuts… it’s really hard to watch. I enjoy AEW a lot more, but I know nothing will ever tap the magic of wrasslin’ in the ’80s and ’90s. It was simply a different time, and we’ll always have the memories to cherish, at least. Lucky to have lived through it!

Thanks for the awesome review! I just rediscovered this game tonight. Like yourself I was a fan of the 80s n 90s wrestling. First played this on Wii U eshop back in 2011. Astroid was easily my favorite as well. And Conan had the sick moonsault. I was a huge fan of the Fire Pro series and prefer timing over button mashing. I will have to check out Zen Pro wrestling. Thanks again for your awesome review and screenshots.

Awesome article. I never played this back then because I never had an SNES, but my family has the switch and this came out today for free with the online service! Excited to mess around with it! Fun to read the article and feel the familiar nostalgia games like this bring back!
