Fun fact: When talking about Rare rushing through the Double Dragon lore, Roper is actually Machine Gun Willy aka the original leader of the Shadow Warriors. Obviously, the brand new Shadow Boss not just took Jimmy Lee’s old persona from the NES port of Double Dragon 1, but he overthrows Willy to become the new leader of the Shadow Warriors, and Willy is lucky to still be alive AND be the Shadow Boss’ right-hand man! I wonder how much Jimmy regrets his jealousy over Billy (over Marian) to see his old Shadow Boss persona return to haunt him?

Yes, I could see this taking place in the NES continuity of Double Dragon. At best, this game is after Double Dragon 2 aka Willy kills Marian! The Lee’s obviously had a falling out after the first game, but Marian’s death actually ends up getting the twins to make up, let alone being on good terms with each other in this game.

PS – Even though it’s a hack, crossing Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers over with Heavy Barrel is actually quite awesome! Seeing a chipmunk with a flame thrower, priceless!
